What actually drives the answer
Price is driven mainly by mowing-area capacity, navigation architecture, drive system, cutting hardware, battery size, and the amount of positioning hardware included with the mower. A small flat lawn does not need the same machine as a wooded two-acre property.
Where buyers get tripped up
The cheapest mower can become expensive if it is undersized, needs repeated manual rescues, or cannot reliably reach every zone. At the other extreme, paying for acreage and traction you do not need produces little practical return.
How to make the decision
Measure actual grass area, maximum slope, tree cover, narrow passages, and zone connectivity first. Then compare only machines that satisfy those constraints and evaluate purchase price inside that smaller set.
