Why we use standardized assumptions

Brand-specific lifetime repair costs are difficult to compare credibly because manufacturers publish different parts catalogs, battery terms, labor policies and service pathways. Applying one transparent scenario to every mower isolates the effect of purchase price while still forcing the buyer to account for recurring ownership costs.

What is not included

The scenarios exclude financing, taxes, shipping, professional installation, boundary-wire installation, antenna mounting, cellular subscriptions, major accident damage, theft, opportunity cost and resale value. Those can matter substantially for an individual purchase and should be added in the calculator where relevant.

Battery reserve is not a prediction

The battery line is a five-year reserve, not a statement that every battery will fail or require replacement within five years. Battery life depends on chemistry, cycle count, heat, storage, charging behavior, mower workload and manufacturer design. Some owners may spend nothing; others may replace a pack earlier.

Purchase price still dominates

With identical operating assumptions applied across models, purchase-price differences remain the largest driver of modeled five-year cost. That makes acreage fit especially important: buying far more mower than the property requires can overwhelm small differences in electricity or blade spending.
