The practical answer

Light moisture may be manageable for many machines, while saturated soil and heavy rain are poor operating conditions. AWD or 4WD can improve traction but can also disturb soft turf if the mower repeatedly turns in the same wet areas.

The constraint that matters most

The main problem is often soil condition rather than the blades. Wet ground can rut, compact, or become slippery, and grass residue can accumulate under the deck faster.

How to set the mower up for it

Use rain-delay features when available, avoid saturated soil, keep the deck clean, and give the mower schedule headroom so a weather pause does not leave it permanently behind.
