Slope rating is only the first filter

A published maximum above 30% provides useful margin, but verify whether the rating applies inside the mowing area, at boundaries, or under specific surface conditions.

Traction and transitions decide real-world performance

A mower can climb a steady grade yet struggle where flat ground transitions abruptly into the slope or where it must turn sideways on wet turf.

Measure the difficult section, not the average lawn

Measure the steepest short section with a level or slope app and compare it with the exact manufacturer limit. Leave margin rather than buying a mower whose maximum matches the measured grade.
