Measure the furniture arrangement first
Lay out the dining table, sectional, grill zone, or hot tub footprint before choosing the structure. Leave circulation space rather than fitting furniture wall-to-wall.
Nominal size is not always usable size
Posts sit inside the roof perimeter on many gazebos, and roof overhang can exceed the post footprint. Check both measurements.
Plan for future enclosure
Curtains, privacy panels, screens, and heaters can change clearance needs. A slightly larger structure can preserve flexibility if you expect to add accessories later.
